Animal Behaviour: Emotion in Invertebrates?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Bees exposed to vigorous shaking designed to simulate a dangerous event judge ambiguous stimuli as predicting a negative outcome - a 'pessimistic' cognitive bias that is characteristic of anxious or depressed humans and other vertebrates in putative negative emotional states.

Temperament and Prosocial Behavior: The Mediating Role of Prosocial Reasoning, Emotion Regulation, and Emotion Lability
Objective: Our study aims to examine the mediating role of prosocial moral reasoning, emotion regulation, and emotion lability in the relation between temperamental characteristics and prosocial behaviour. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, a sample of 202 students were recruited through random multistage sampling method. The participants were interviewed about their prosocial moral reasonin...

0003-3472 2013 The Authors. Published on behalf http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.anbehav.2013.09.036 Nonconsumptive or trait-mediated effects of predators on their prey often outweigh density-mediated interactions where predators consume prey. For instance, predator presence can alter prey behaviour, physiology, morphology and/or development. Despite a burgeoning literature, our ability to identify ...
متن کاملThe influence of sound exposure on movement and food-finding behaviour of red cherry shrimp Neocaridina davidi
Background and Objectives: Many animal species are currently experiencing anthropogenic pollutions in their habitat. Noise pollution from human activities affects many species of animals. Noise pollution in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems is prominently recognized as a source of stress and disruption of biological activities, and an important and pervasive global environmental pollutant. Rec...
متن کاملA "How-To" Guide for Designing Judgment Bias Studies to Assess Captive Animal Welfare.
Robust methods to assess nonhuman animal emotion are essential for ensuring good welfare in captivity. Cognitive bias measures such as the judgment bias task have recently emerged as promising tools to assess animal emotion. The simple design and objective response measures make judgment bias tasks suitable for use across species and contexts. In reviewing 64 studies published to date, it emerg...
متن کاملFish odour triggers conspecific attraction behaviour in an aquatic invertebrate.
Group living has evolved as an adaptation to predation in many animal species. In a multitude of vertebrates, the tendency to aggregate varies with the risk of predation, but experimental evidence for this is less well known in invertebrates. Here, we examine the tendency to aggregate in the freshwater amphipod Gammarus pulex in the absence and presence of predator fish odour. Without fish odou...
